To gain access to the West
Coast one must use the R27 coastal road which runs from Cape
Town, bye passing the towns of Yzerfontein, Langerbaan, Vredenburg
and finishing at the fishing town of Velddrif.
From Cape Town the National Route 2 is the main access to the
West Coast, passing the Cederberg, Namaqualand and on to the heartland
of Namibia.
Malmesbury located 65 kilometres north of Cape Town is recognised
as the centre of the agriculture industry, namely grain, wine,
sheep rearing and poultry farming.
Citrusdal located just of the N2 and less than a two hour drive
from Cape Town is located on the banks of the Oilfants River.
Citrusdal is set amongst the citrus orchards and vineyards at
the foothills of the Cederberg Mountains. It is well know as the
centre of the Western Cape Citrus industry and its herbal tea
plantations of " RooibosTea". Known as "Red Bush
Tea in England".
Clanwilliam one of the oldest towns on the West Coast in the tourism
industry is known for its profusion of wild flowers during Spring,
hiking trails and it "Rock Art".
The coastal towns along the west coast are legend for its fishing.
Some of these are Saldanha, Ysterfontein, Velddrif, and Lamberts
Bay.
The population of the West Coast always seems to doubles over
the long weekends and holiday periods when the Guest House and
self catering accommodation fill up with visitors to the area.
