Description:The Edge Mountain Retreat has cosy self-catering cottages, all with log fire-places, some cottages perched on the edge of the cliff with some of the most dramtic views in SA.
We also have B&B en-suite garden rooms all with own private entrance.
All this in 15 acres of beautiful gardens. Our lovely garden restaurant and bar, also with log fire-places serves delicious breakfasts, light lunches and dinners, all made with mostly organic and locally grown ingredients.
Superb wines at reasonable prices to compliment your meal. We bake fresh breads, scones and the best cakes, every morning!

Over the Edge, Thatched Rondavel:
Tucked away on the edge of the cliff, this romantic and cosy, private thatched rondavel has the most spectacular views, a king size bed with feather duvet, two comfy old leather chairs in front of the log fire, charming old furniture and an abundance of character! It has an open plan kitchen and separate bathroom.
Perfect for honeymoons or romantic getaways!
"Thunderstone, Thatched Rondavel:
This very special rondavel is only meters away from the edge of the cliff and has the most spectacular view in Hogsback! Look over the gorge at indigenous rain forests and waterfalls, even from the luxurious king size bed with its feather duvet! Sip a glass of wine on the veranda or on the comfy old leather lounge suite in front of the log fire-place and watch the spectacular sunsets, and birds of prey, Cape Parrots and Louries as they make their way back to their nests.
This rondavel has an open plan kitchen and a lovely en-suite bathroom with a double shower. It is the ideal hideaway for honeymooners and romantics looking for something extra-special! This must surely be the most special rondavel and you won't find better for miles around!
Heaven`s Above, Thatched Cottage:
This is our latest and most special cottage. It is perched on the edge of the cliff and indigenous forest, and has an unbelievably dramatic view, even from the lovely deep bath! It is luxuriously furnished with king-size bed, feather duvet, and two comfy leather couches to relax on in front of the log fireplace. Commune with nature on the beautiful wooden deck (which takes you right to "the edge") while marvelling at the spectacular views!
The perfect spot for breakfast, a sundowner, or to simply relax and soak up the sun. This must be one of the best locations in the country! Seeing is believing! Perfect for romantics!
Fire-Fly Cottage:
Close to the edge, this luxurious, romantic and cosy cottage also has spectacular views, two comfy chairs in front of a log fireplace, a king-size bed with feather duvet, and a bath big enough for two!
The veranda, from where you can watch swirling mist and beautiful sunsets, also has an undercover braai!
Sugar Bird Cottage:
This is a cosy two bedroom cottage with open plan living area and separate bathroom. It has a queen size bed in the one room and two single beds in the other. It has a log fire, old world furniture, and lots of character.
It is a short stroll to the edge of the cliff, which is the perfect spot for sundowners or to simply relax with a good book!
Stargazer Cottage:
This is a lovely, cosy thatched cottage with beautiful views from every room. It has two bedrooms both en-suite. One bedroom has a queen-size bed, the other, two single beds. All the beds have fluffy feather duvets and electric blankets.
The comfortable lounge and dining room has a huge stone fireplace, and together with the thatched roof and beautiful old furniture, "Stargazer" cottage has a lovely, relaxed feeling. It also has a fully equipped kitchen and a veranda with undercover braai.
Kudu Shack:
A small and snug cottage for two. It has a double bed, two comfortable chairs in front of the log fire, open plan kitchen and separate bathroom.It has a thatched ceiling, and is only 20 meters from the edge of the cliff and fantastic views.
Daedalus Shelter and Minos Keep:
In Greek mythology, Daedalus built the Labyrinth in which King Minos kept his Minotaur (half man and half bull). Close to our Labyrinth, these two separate, lovely cosy cottages each sleep two and are only a 50m stroll to the edge of the cliff and the view-sight.
Both cottages have beautiful old furniture, en-suite bedrooms, open plan living areas with a fireplace, and are fully equipped for self-catering.Daedalus' Shelter has two single beds, and Minos' Keep has a queen size bed. All beds have snug feather duvets.
