Our delicious breakfasts are made with care on our AGA stove and served in the dining room of the main house. We grow our own fruit and vegetables, fertilized by compost made from kitchen waste and the resident donkeys’ manure. The genteel ladies clucking and fluffing in the garden lay fresh farm eggs every day. We are passionate about using only the freshest of ingredients and buy from local farmers.
Located on the Midlands Meander, there are many little shops where you can buy cheese (or learn to make your own), see locally made art, try on leather shoes or mugs of local beer, shop till you drop and eat to your stomach’s content. Midmar Dam is a 10-minute drive away and offers sailing, water-skiing and boardsailing, pleasure cruises and game viewing. Golf, fly-fishing, horse riding and a treetop tour can be arranged if you are looking for a bit of adventure.
Stocklands Farm shares a common boundary with the Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve where there are opportunities for walks, bird watching and game viewing. Here you can see the mighty Umgeni River meandering in the valley, giraffes grazing on acacia trees and antelope like these two Impala. Birdlife ranges from tiny warblers to magnificent black, crowned and martial eagles – a birdspotter’s delight!
