Being situated in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, makes Cranford Country Lodge the ideal base camp for the many tours and activities that are available in the kingdom of the Zulu. For the avid golfers, Boschoek Golf course is a mere 10 minutes down the road, and world famous Mt Edgecomb course is only an hour and a half to tee off. With this there are a myriad of local clubs also available.
From Cranford's verandah to the top of the Sani Pass is just an hour and twenty minutes. Albert Falls dam is rated as one of the best largemouth bass waters in the world, and can be reached within half an hour. Together with this Craigieburn, Inanda and Shongweni dams can be reached in about an hour, with Midmar being just 10 minutes away. Some of the best shark and reef diving in the world can be found only two and a half hours away, with Durban and its offshore fishing and buzz of activity within the hour.
Some of South Africa's most highly rated trout waters are available in the Kamberg, 45 minutes away, with the rivers of the Underberg region just over an hours travel.
Apart from all these activities, the Midlands Meander is all around us, with the Howick Falls, Valley of a Thousand Hills and so much more helping to make Cranford Country Lodge the place to stay when visiting our beautiful province

Join us on an exciting Clay pigeon shoot both for the beginner and for the experienced. The Clay Traps are set up in the plantation away from the main buildings, we offer three different shooting stands which offer great variety and make it a real challenge. Join us for a weekend or a day with the family, shoot some Clay Pigeons, try a little fly fishing and have a braai while the kids enjoy the wonders of Country life.
There are two well stocked trout dams on the premises that are available for guests to utilise, as well as for day fishers. These dams are as picturesque, as much as they are action packed with healthy trout. Come and try your hand at the art of enticing these wiley adversaries with an artfully presented dry fly, or scour the depths and entice a trophy to demolish your offerings.
Todd has been an active Falconer and Raptor specialist for the last 23 years, now based at Cranford he offers any interested guests an opportunity to join him in the training and rehabilitation of Birds of Prey. While you spend the weekend with us you may experience the opportunity in a real life hunt with Todd's Falcons and Hawks.
Activities on the historic farm include: walks through both indigenous and introduced forests, bird watching with over 150 species recorded, tennis, as well as a jungle gym and farmyard for the children. There are numerous horse trails as well as mountain bike trails to take advantage of.
We boast an excellent conference and wedding centre.
It seats 120 guests, and houses a huge walk-in fireplace, to keep away the Midlands winter chill.
All catering and beverage needs will be taken care of, as well as any additional special requirements.
