Description:Only an hours drive from JHB and nestled on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys, Carryblaire River Retreat embodies peace, tranquillity and a sense of oneness with nature.
With its own natural island and being a bird sanctuary the views offered at Carryblaire are breathtaking and some of the most beautiful in Africa.
The Yellowfish that leap through the water are considered to rival Trout in their ability to entice fishermen in a challenge of wits, while the calls of the nesting Fish Eagles remind us of their superiority in the air.
Drink in the beauty and serenity around you, and let us and nature do the rest...
The main lodge has a Honeymoon suite and two en-suite double bedrooms.
There are four double en-suite cottage style rooms with their own verandahs and river views.
We also have a private family cottage with 2 bedrooms both en-suite one small for older kids and one large. The cottage is right on the banks of the river.
All the bedrooms are decoratively inspired by elements from African nature. They have thatched roofs and mosquito nets and for the winter months are fitted with electric heaters and electric blankets.
Catering is either on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast or Bed & Breakfast basis.
Meals consist of healthy and wholesome farm style cooking, served in the dining room at the main lodge, or on the covered lodge verandah with stunning views overlooking the river.
Children over 13 yrs welcome.

Parys is a small and vibrant town in South Africa. It lies on the banks of the Vaal River 120 km south of Johannesburg. Parys offers visitors a variety of attractions, ranging from browsing wonderful antique shops and art galleries to adventure sporting.
Parys itself is situated inside the Vredefort Dome, which is the remains of an ancient crater.
The crater was formed 2000 million years ago when a meteorite as big as Table Mountain struck the earth. The crater is about 90 km in diameter with the center of impact near Vredefort. The crater has recently gained World Heritage Site status.
